Two individuals have been arrested for stealing a Maritime Plumbing scissor lift.
Late Wednesday night (July 3) and early Thursday morning (July 4), the Manitowoc Police Department observed the two suspects operating the scissor lift on South Ninth Street.
The individuals in question were both 21-year-old Manitowoc men.
The arresting officer turned on his police lights, exited his vehicle, and ordered them to stop and get off the equipment.
The two men did not comply initially, causing the officer to draw his TASER.
Following this, one of the men got off and fled the scene.
The other took his time but eventually complied with the officer.
Once off the equipment, he appeared visibly intoxicated, slurring his words, and at approximately 11:30, he was arrested and sent to the Manitowoc Police Department.
Hours later, the second individual was located and arrested just after 4:00 a.m.
The stolen Maritime Plumbing scissor lift was valued at $20,000, and the two men only made it 30 feet before being apprehended.
The two suspects have been charged with disorderly conduct and felony theft, while the man who fled is also facing a charge of obstructing an officer.
