A Milwaukee man remains in the Manitowoc County Jail after stealing a car and crashing it just a few blocks away.
29-year-old Chaki Jackson appeared in Manitowoc County Circuit Court yesterday and had his bail set at $1000.
He was ordered to maintain absolute sobriety and to have no contact with the victim of the crime or any witnesses.
Jackson is charged with Operating a Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent, Resisting an Officer, Threat to a Law Enforcement Officer, and Disorderly Conduct.
Manitowoc Police said when they arrived at the scene of the crash in the 1700 block of South 10th Street, two men were holding Jackson down after he attempted to flee the scene.
He allegedly fled to the south after stealing the car, struck a tree, and flipped the car.
He also allegedly yelled at police officers and nearly spat at one of them while at a local hospital.
Jackson’s next court appearance will be July 15th at 1:30 pm.
