Manitowoc American Legion baseball hosted a pair of Mishicot teams, and won both ends.
In the opener, Post 88’s 17U squad fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, but bounced back to pick up a 5-3 win.
Nicholas Braun was responsible for a big momentum shift, as he blasted a triple, scoring a pair of runs in the 6th inning, giving Manitowoc the lead for good.
Noah Blaser was credited with the win, striking out 2 batters in the final two innings. Then, in the nightcap, Post 88’s 19U squad dominated in an 11-1 route.
Brock Peterson had a night to remember, driving home five runs on three hits, including a home run, while Evander Kummer brought home a pair, and Eyan Dessellier and Trenton Ducat also knocked in one apiece.
Landon Chalupny got the win on the mound, striking out 4 batters and walking 7 in four innings of work, while Damien Gretz allowed only one hit and struck out 3 in two innings of relief.
The 19U team is back in action today as they travel to Sheboygan, while the 17U squad takes a couple of days off before starting the Marinette tournament.
The 16U team also has one more day of rest before hosting a doubleheader against Pulaski on Thursday.
They only have four games left before the start of the regional tournament, which kicks off July 19th, the same day as the 17U tournament.
The 19U Regional round begins July 23rd.
