The Legislative Council Study Committee on the Future of the University of Wisconsin System held its first meeting yesterday, initiating what is expected to be a lengthy process to develop new recommendations for the university’s future.
The committee is examining demographic trends that will affect the university over the coming years and assessing the institution’s needs.
Former UW Regent Scott Beightol noted that the university has a history of implementing reforms and suggested that it may be due for more changes now. Recommendations are expected no earlier than next year.
