The man who stabbed his cousin because of an insult has been sentenced.
38-year-old Ryan King was ordered by Judge Jerilyn Dietz to spend four years in prison, followed by eight years on extended supervision.
King was previously found guilty due to a no-contest plea on a charge of 1st Degree Reckless Injury, while two counts of False Imprisonment were dismissed but read into the record.
The incident occurred in March of 2022 at a home on South 20th Street. Officers arrived to find King’s cousin with a stab wound.
He explained that King was talking about Satan, and started stabbing the man after an insult was directed his way.
As a part of his extended supervision, King is ordered to maintain absolute sobriety and attend any assessment, treatment, or counseling as deemed appropriate.
