A former teacher at L.B. Clarke Middle School has been sentenced on a child abuse charge.
50-year-old Paul G. Gehrke was before Judge Anthony Lambrecht Thursday (July 18th), where he was found guilty due to a no-contest plea on a charge of Child Abuse – Recklessly Causing Harm, and a charge of Disorderly Conduct was dismissed but read into the record.
Gehrke was ordered to six months in jail, with three months being stayed, along with two years of probation.
Gehrke was arrested following an altercation with a student in October of 2023.
Security camera footage caught him dragging the student by his sweatshirt into the hallway and yelling at him.
As a part of his probation, Gehrke was ordered to have no contact with the victim or his family, undergo anger management counseling, and not hold a job or volunteer position where children would be present.
