Leland “Lee” Joseph VanDehei, 77, Manitowoc passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at his home.
Lee was born on January 27, 1947 in Green Bay to George and Viola (Peters) VanDehei. He attended Pulaski High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1966-1969. Lee worked for Hamilton Manufacturing for over 34 years as a welder. On November 10, 1984, he married Mary (Swetlik) Reichardt. Lee enjoyed riding motorcycles and shooting pool with Mary, owning classic cars and attending car shows. Lee had a love for animals, especially his faithful companions, Dusty and Sammy.
Lee is survived by his wife: Mary VanDehei; daughter: Christina (Randy) Tulachka; step-children: Brodie Reichardt and Tyler (significant other Heather Murray) Reichardt; grandchildren: Autumn (fiancé Cody Jonas) Mueller and Peyton Tulachka; step grandchild: Jonah Murray; great-granddaughter: Willow Jonas; sister: Alice Tassoul; and close friend: Doyle Hammons. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his parents: George and Viola VanDehei; brothers and sisters.
A memorial service to celebrate Lee’s life will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, 1420 22nd Street at 2:30 pm with Deacon Paul Gleichner officiating, with Military Honors to follow. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the funeral home from 12:30 pm until the time of service at 2:30 pm. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum.
