The Cherney Maribel Caves County Park will be hosting cave tours.
The tour will feature the park’s New Hope Cave on Sunday (July 21) from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The New Hope Cave, first discovered in 1984, is one of five caves in the state currently being shown to the public.
It is now electrically illuminated for tours led by Wisconsin Speleological Society volunteers.
Some of the structures in the cave include stalactites and a stone spire that stands nine feet tall.
A flowing underground stream formed the cave’s winding passages thousands of years ago.
The tours are free of charge; however, donations are appreciated.
The Maribel Caves County Park is located at 15401 County Road R in Maribel.
More information on the tour and the other caves can be found online at maribelcaves.com.
