There are two meetings on the calendar for today (July 24th) in the City of Manitowoc.
First up is the Board of Public Works, which will be in the Council Chambers at 4:00 p.m. to look over change orders and pay estimates for various engineering and public works projects.
Then, at 6:00 p.m., the Plan Commission will be in the Council Chambers, where they will hold a public hearing regarding the new Conditional Use Permit request submitted by the group known as The Neighborhood.
They are looking to turn the former McKinley school building into transitional housing for those using The Haven or Hope House to get back on their feet.
The McKinnley building has been purchased by The Neighborhood, thanks to, in Pastor Matt Sauer’s words, “the generosity of Jim and Barbee Lester,” but he also noted that the project will need an additional $6 to $7 million in funds.
