The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office is once again warning of another Facebook scam.
This is concerning a post made on the Shawano County Classifieds page stating a newborn baby had been found by police in Shawano County.
It also requested others to share the post to put the word out of the false claims.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office noted that comments were turned off, which is a big clue when identifying what is and isn’t a scam online.
They also assured community members that this was not to be true and that no abandoned newborn had been found.
As we reported last week, this comes after a similar scam was reported last week by the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Office involving false claims of a missing child.
With scams of this nature becoming more regular, local law enforcement agencies urge members of the community to check official police and sheriff pages for updates to confirm whether a post is real or a scam.
