A major fundraiser in Manitowoc for the Alzheimer’s Association is fast approaching.
Last week on Seehafer Broadcasting’s Hello Lakeshore podcast, Walk to End Alzheimer’s Manager CJ Werly gave a rundown on what to expect from this year’s event.
He stated that the 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Saturday, September 7th, and will begin at the Manitowoc – Two Rivers YMCA, the event will open at 8:30 a.m. with the opening ceremony beginning at 9:40.
Individuals should expect to be welcomed by vendors as well as MC Craig Dillion and music being played by Jeremy Seidl in the DJ booth.
The welcome will be concluded by the opening ceremony, during which each individual will receive a flower.
“You will get a walking flower depending on your relationship with the disease,” Werly explained. “Whether you’re living with the disease, lost somebody to the disease, caring for someone with the disease, or simply advocating for someone with the disease, and then we go and we honor specific people depending on those relationships”.
Money donated to the event will go towards the Alzheimer’s Association.
Marketing and Communications Manager of Wisconsin’s Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Dana Elmzen, elaborated, saying, “The cure is the ultimate goal that we have, but, until then we offer so many care and support services, and also some really cutting edge research with treatments in the works, and already approved today, with both of those things, we’re looking towards the future but also, taking care of people, families, and individuals who are dealing with the disease right now”.
