The Manitowoc American Legion 19U team started out hot and cruised to a 6-2 win in their regional opener against Neenah.
Post 88 plated four runs in the first inning, including RBI singles by Brady Hadler and Zach Brandl, and an RBI double off the bat of Brock Peterson.
Manitowoc would add to the lead, tallying one run each in the 4th and 6th innings, but Neenah didn’t quit, plating a pair of runs in the 7th before Post 88 closed out the win.
Seth Gibeault earned the win on the mound, hurling 6 innings of near-perfect baseball. He allowed just one hit and one walk before Damien Gretz came on for the save.
Up next for Manitowoc is a matchup against Appleton Post 38 tonight at 8:00 p.m.
