There are only a few more days left for the Wisconsin DNR to accept artwork entries for the Wild Turkey, Pheasant, and Waterfowl Stamp design contest.
The contest is hosted every year by the DNR and allows local artists around Wisconsin to compete for an opportunity to have their artwork commemorated in a historic way on different stamps.
The DNR reminds residents that artwork must meet technical requirements to be eligible, and applicants should carefully review the contest rules to ensure their entries’ eligibility.
Stamp design entries must be received or postmarked by August 1st.
Judging will take place on August 24th at the Waterfowl Hunters Expo in Oshkosh.
Last year, New Holstein artist Robert Wilkens won a spot on one of the stamps in the pheasants’ category.
Sales of these three stamps bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars annually for species management throughout the state, including habitat management, restoration, education and research projects.
Hunters are required to purchase stamps to harvest these game birds.
