A Fond du Lac man has been convicted in a 2022 threat case.
WBAY TV reports that 75-year-old James R. Stearns was convicted on one count of Terrorist Threats in a court trial.
The investigation into Stearns began in May of 2022 when he sent a pair of emails to a radio talk show host and a state legislator shortly after the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
Stearns was unhappy with talks of arming teachers or school administrators, and he emailed the radio host that he would get “the most powerful (gun) I can purchase” to attack any legislator who voted in favor of such a measure.
A separate email to a specific legislator, who was unnamed, stated that the lawmaker would be “a dead man in 60 days” if the measure was passed.
Stearns was ordered by Judge Anthony Nehls to spend 7 days in jail and pay a $500 fine along with court costs.
