A Manitowoc man has been arrested on felony gun and narcotics charges.
The Manitowoc Police Department dispatched officers to the 1600 block of Columbus Street just after 10:30 Sunday night (July 28) on a report of a burglary in progress.
Officers spotted two individuals exiting the residence and began questioning them.
One of the two in question, a 50-year-old Manitowoc man, claimed that their friend lived in the upper unit of the house.
While officers tried to verify this claim, the Manitowoc man became visually nervous and attempted to leave on his bicycle multiple times.
After a few moments, Manitowoc PD dispatch told the officers that the man who tried to leave had a warrant for his arrest in Manitowoc County.
He was placed under arrest, and upon search of his person and backpack, officers found seven concealed knives, 1.9 grams of methamphetamine, and a loaded 9-millimeter handgun.
The 50-year-old man, a convicted felon, was then transported to the Manitowoc County Jail where he was held on two felony charges, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession of Methamphetamine.
He was also charged with a misdemeanor charge of Carrying a Concealed Knife.
The man’s associate was not charged or arrested.
