Dairy industry workers can learn what they can do to respond to bird flu affecting cattle through the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association.
The group will host three online education sessions starting today (July 30th) titled H5N1 and Employee Safety beginning at 1:00 pm.
The free program will allow members of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and the WCMA Senior Director of Programs to talk about the flu and answer questions.
The second course focuses on H5N1 food safety research and regulator updates beginning at 1:00 pm on August 6th.
The third course is a workshop in Madison and takes place on August 13th. It focuses on enhancing on-farm biosecurity practices amid the bird flu.
WCMA Senior Director of Programming Rebekah Sweeney says, “Employee safety is always a top concern for dairy processors, and its importance has only grown as H5N1 has spread among dairy herds. WCMA is here to help, connecting the industry with experienced, trusted resources to help navigate an evolving situation.”
