A day of kite flying returns to the Lake Michigan shoreline in Algoma.
The 10th annual Soar on the Shore Beach and Kite festival returns on Saturday, August 17th, at Algoma’s Crescent Beach from 11:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The event includes entertainment from the Wisconsin Kiters Club with stunt kites, giant kites, and a kite candy blast for kids.
Stunt kite teams Fire & Ice and Three Sheets will also be performing to music, and kiters will be available to answer questions and offer tips for newcomers.
There will also be a public flying area for those who bring their own kites. Children can enjoy a variety of activities, including rock painting with ArtBeet, Inc. and street chalk drawing.
The event also includes a boat display from the Wisconsin DNR along with a fire truck from the Algoma Fire Department, plus a story walk and scavenger hunt through the Algoma Public Library.
Soar on Shore will also include food from several organizations.
If the event is postponed, it will be rescheduled to Sunday the 18th.
