George Hartleroad, a 71-year-old wanted man from Wisconsin who escaped 30 years ago, has been arrested and is now back in jail.
Police in West Des Moines apprehended Hartleroad for not having a reflective light on his bike, leading to the discovery that he had been on the run since fleeing a Madison halfway house in 1995.
Hartleroad, who had previously served time for a rape in Chippewa County, was wanted for false imprisonment and possessing a rifle.
He has been in the Dane County Jail since early July, with state prison officials planning for him to complete his sentence.
