A woman who abused her daughter and abandoned her dog in Sheboygan will be going to prison.
53-year-old Dawn Marie Astudillo was ordered by judge Rebecca Persick to spend six years in prison followed by five years on extended supervision, with 82 days credit for time spent in jail.
She was previously found guilty due to a no contest plea on a charge of Causing Mental Harm to a Child, while four additional animal abuse charges and a charge of Neglecting a Child Consequence is Great Bodily Harm were dismissed but read into the record.
WHBL reports that Astudillo was arrested after her daughter was found to be severely malnourished.
A doctor claimed the child hadn’t gained any weight in three years.
Astudillo also abandoned her dog in a ditch, which was also found to be badly emaciated.
