The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office has waved goodbye to a longtime deputy.
Jason Jost called it a career Friday, putting a cap on a 33-year career. He joined the Sheriff’s Office in 1991 as a reserve deputy after first serving with the Janesville Police Department.
Throughout his career locally, Jost has also been a Patrol Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Jail Administration, Lieutenant of Detectives and most recently Court Bailiff.
In a public statement, the Department said of Jost, “No matter the responsibility of position that Jason held, he always did it with the utmost professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his community and fellow team members at the Sheriff’s Office.”
Meanwhile, the Sheriff’s Office is also praising the work of another employee.
Deputy Matt Hassemer recently graduated from Fox Valley Technical College Police Academy and received the Todd Stamper Back-up Award and the Craig Birkholz Leadership Award.
Sheriff Dan Hartwig was on hand to provide the Keynote address and to congratulate all of the graduates from the 2024 class.
