A FLOOD WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FOR SEVERAL NORTHEAST WISCONSIN COUNTIES from 7 p.m. tonight through Tuesday morning. The Watch includes Manitowoc, Calumet, Kewaunee, Brown, Winnebago and Outagamie counties. Recent heavy rains across central and east-central Wisconsin has caused saturated soils across the region. The potential for additional heavy rain of 1 to 2 inches is expected, with locally higher amounts possible. The combination of wet soils and heavy rainfall will lead to the threat of flooding across east-central Wisconsin tonight. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. Meanwhile, A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FOR Beaches along Lake Michigan in Kewaunee and Manitowoc Counties from 10 PM CDT this evening through Tuesday afternoon. Dangerous swimming conditions are expected, as strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers. Several beaches that will be most susceptible to the dangerous swimming conditions include Cresent Beach and City of Kewaunee Beach in Kewaunee County, along with Point Beach, Neshotah Beach and Red Arrow Beach in Manitowoc County. Swimmers and all water enthusiats are being encouraged to remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
