A 26-year-old Manitowoc man led Fond du Lac County authorities on a high-speed chase covering a mile and a half before being captured Sunday afternoon.
WAUH Radio reports that a sheriff’s deputy observed the driver of a Toyota Camry traveling 126 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone.
A short time later, the suspect attempted to evade the officer by turning onto a dead-end roadway and eventually into the backyard of a private residence.
Witnesses told the deputy of the location of the fleeing suspect, and he was apprehended.
The motorist, who has not been identified, was initially seen speeding on Highway 23 near County Road UU in the Town of Empire.
The Manitowoc resident is in the Fond du Lac County Jail facing charges of felony fleeing and eluding, second-degree reckless endangerment and was also cited for a handful of traffic and county ordinance violations.
