Two adults arrested in Manitowoc last weekend for possession of narcotics appeared for bail hearings Monday afternoon in Manitowoc County Circuit Court.
Charges officially filed against 39-year-old Geoffrey P. Hanson of Elburn, Illinois, are Possession of Fentanyl, Heroin, A Schedule Two Drug, and Drug Paraphernalia.
32-year-old Ina M. Haertel, also of Elburn, Illinois, is charged with Possession of THC (second offense), Drug Paraphernalia, Cocaine, and Possession of a Controlled Substance in a correctional facility.
A Manitowoc Police Officer observed a truck parked with its motor running about noon Sunday (August 4th) at The Waldo Boulevard Wayside.
Both Haertel and Hanson were asleep inside the vehicle and found to be breathing heavily and exhibiting conditions consistent with the analgesic ingestion of narcotics.
A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, where officers located various amounts of multiple drugs, consisting of marijuana, heroin, fentanyl, and oxycodone, along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
Officers also identified a homemade smoking device and lighter on Hanson’s lap with tinfoil on the floor.
Conditions of bail are that both defendants are not to possess any “controlled substance(s) unless prescribed and maintain “absolute sobriety.”
$100 cash bail has been posted for each, and initial appearances are scheduled for August 12th at 1:30.
