A man and a woman from Illinois have been arrested for possession of narcotics in Manitowoc.
Following a routine traffic stop on Sunday (August 4th) at the Waldo Boulevard wayside, a Manitowoc Police Department officer observed a truck parked with its motor running with two individuals asleep inside.
The individuals were a 39-year-old man in the driver’s seat and a 32-year-old woman in the passenger seat, both from Illinois.
Upon closer inspection, the officer identified a homemade smoking device and lighter on the man’s lap with tinfoil on the floor.
A second police unit and EMS were called after the suspects were breathing heavily and exhibiting conditions consistent with the analgesic ingestion of narcotics.
The two Manitowoc PD officers were able to wake the suspects, and a probable cause search of the vehicle was quickly conducted.
During the search, the officers found 25 oxycodone, 3.8 grams of fentanyl, 1.2 grams of heroin, 35.5 grams of marijuana, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
Both were arrested, and the 39-year-old man is being charged with Possession of fentanyl, heroin, a schedule 2 drug, and drug paraphernalia.
The 32-year-old woman is being charged with possession of THC (2nd offense) and drug paraphernalia. She also received additional charges after being arrested when jail staff located a plastic-wrapped object in her underwear.
The item was seized, tested, and confirmed to be 4.8 grams of cocaine.
Charges of possession of cocaine and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility were then added for the Illinois woman.
