It has now been just over a month since the crash that changed the lives of Jason and Tina Prigge.
They were each riding their motorcycles on their way back home from a trip to Michigan when they were struck head-on by a car that crossed the center line.
Since then, the Manitowoc community has come out big in support, with over $213,000 being raised on a GoFundMe page and numerous other fundraisers being held.
For those who were concerned about the taxability of the GoFundMe, Jeff Dvoracheck from Hawkins Ash CPAs explained on a recent episode of WOMT’s Tax Insights, “That’s just a straight gift. It’s not like you are giving it to a charity, it’s not like you are giving it to some 501c3 organization where you can take a tax reduction on your return. Unless the numbers get high, it’s really a non-event for people, from a tax point of view.”
Jason went to Facebook yesterday to give an update on Tina.
He explained, “Tina is currently in an in-patient rehab hospital learning adaptive skills for living with missing limbs, while she continues to heal. She is grateful for your well wishes, good thoughts and prayers. Thank you for continuing to lift her up during this difficult time.”
Jason, meanwhile, is still healing from the nine fractures in his leg and foot, and hopes to be mobile in the future.
