State numbers show that the city of Manitowoc is seeing tremendous growth.
That’s according to Mayor Justin Nickels, who released the preliminary numbers for the Net New Construction and Equalized Value.
Nickels says Net New Construction increased from 2023 to 2024 by about 2.14% or over $65.9 million.
Manitowoc County also had an increase of 1.47%. Two Rivers saw an increase of about .80%, while Kiel saw an increase of .52%, respectively.
Nickels continues by saying that The Clipper City’s Equalized Value has also seen a dramatic increase of 8%, meaning that property in the city is now valued at around $3 billion.
That’s a $258 million increase from last year.
To put it in perspective, Nickels says the city’s equalized value was approximately $1.4 billion in 2001.
In 2019, it reached $2 billion.
And now, in 2024, it stands at $3.3 billion.
This means we’ve increased over $1 billion in just 5 years, a feat that took us 18 years from 2001 to 2019 to achieve.
Nickels finishes by saying, “It’s a clear indication that our best days are still ahead of us, and we are well-positioned for even more remarkable growth in the future!”
