Murder charges have been filed in connection with the death of D’Vontaye Mitchell, who was restrained in front of Milwaukee’s downtown Hyatt in June.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office announced yesterday that four private security guards are being charged with felony murder.
The medical examiner determined Mitchell’s death was due to “restraint asphyxia,” compounded by the toxic effects of methamphetamine and cocaine.
The incident, which was captured on video, has led to over a month of demands for justice from Mitchell’s family.
