A man is facing charges of resisting an officer after escaping from police.
On August 9th, just before 8:00 p.m., the Manitowoc Police Department received a call of a wanted person showing up to a residence in the 1100 block of Philippen Street.
Upon arrival of officers, the suspect, a 32-year-old male, fled on foot into backyards despite numerous warnings to stop.
Another officer with a K9 unit came for assistance, and a nearby resident alerted them that a man matching the suspect’s description was seen running through yards.
Dispatch also alerted officers that the man fleeing had a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear in court on disorderly conduct and use of a dangerous weapon charges.
The police dog quickly picked up on his trail and eventually led the officer to the fleeing suspect.
Once again, police yelled, telling the man to stop, and announced that the dog would be sent after him if he did not cooperate.
However, the suspect got away after hopping a fence, causing the dog to lose its trace to the 32-year-old man.
The suspect, already facing charges stemming from a domestic violence incident, is now facing an additional resisting an officer charge following the incident last week.
