Today is Wisconsin’s Primary Election.
That means voters will decide which candidates will move forward to the upcoming General Election in November.
There are two contests around Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties for the Wisconsin Assembly. In the 25th District, Incumbent Republican Assemblyman Paul Tittl is running to keep his seat against Businessman Dave Wage.
Stephen Welch is running unopposed for the Democrats. In District 27, two Republicans are running for the now open seat after Representative Amy Binsfeld announced she will run in the newly redrawn 26th district.
Lindee Brill and Brian Hilbelink are the two Republicans running against each other. Kay Ladson is also running unopposed for the Democrats.
The newly redrawn district covers Sheboygan County cities like Sheboygan Falls, Howards Grove, and Plymouth.
The City of Kiel is also in the new district.
Other races around Manitowoc County include the 2nd and 3rd Assembly Districts, but they aren’t contested.
The other contested race on the ballot is for the US Senate, where Republican Businessman Eric Hovde is running against Charles E. Barman and Rejani Raveendran.
No one is running against Incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin in the primary.
Other races that have only one Democrat and one Republican running include the 6th District Congressional race between Incumbent Republican Glenn Grothman and Democrat Challenger John Zarbano.
There are also several uncontested races around the county for District Attorney, County Clerk, Register of Deeds, and Treasurer.
Lastly, there will be two constitutional amendments asking voters if they want the Wisconsin Legislature to have the power when federal money is sent to the state for emergencies and other needs.
Right now, Wisconsin’s governor controls where the money goes.
Voting opened at 7:00 a.m., and polls close at 8:00 p.m.
