The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazards Statement that’s in effect Thursday morning through Friday morning for beaches along Lake Michigan in Manitowoc and Kewaunee Counties.
Beaches that will be most susceptible to dangerous swimming conditions during the statement period include Neshotah, Point Beach, and Red Arrow Beach in Manitowoc County, along with Crescent Beach and the City of Kewaunee Beach in Kewaunee County.
Dangerous swimming conditions with high waves and strong currents are expected, which can and have pulled people into deeper water and swept people off piers with very little to no advance warning.
Swimmers are advised to remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
