Once again, the Manitowoc Police Department will be out in force to crack down on impaired driving.
As a part of the annual Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, the local police department will try to not only catch those who drive while intoxicated but also teach residents the importance of driving with a clear mind.
During the 2022 Labor Day holiday, a total of 490 fatal crashes occurred around the country.
190 involved a drunk driver.
The Manitowoc Police Department said as a part of the Drive Sober announcement, “We want our community members to understand that it’s our first priority to keep people safe, so we’re asking everyone to plan ahead if they know they’ll be out drinking. The Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign is an awareness effort to get the message out that drunk driving is illegal and it takes lives.”
They also pleaded with the community to “Help us protect the community and put an end to this senseless behavior.”
This year’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign began on Wednesday (August 14th) and will run through September 2nd.
