The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is now accepting pre-applications for the 2025 Surface Water Grants.
The DNR announced on Monday (August 19) that pre-applications must be submitted by September 15th to be in the running for a grant that will be given out in November.
This year, more than $6 million will be awarded to local groups to improve and protect the state’s surface water.
This money comes from the state conservation fund’s water resources account.
The aim of the Surface Water Grants is to accelerate water protection and restoration efforts.
Activities available for grant funding include educational programs, water quality improvements, habitat restoration projects, and more.
Eligible organizations able to apply include counties, municipalities, and lake and sanitary districts, amongst many others.
