The Chamber Manitowoc County wants to continue to teach high school students about finances.
The chamber, along with Kohler Credit Union, is bringing back the Reality Store, a financial literacy event that teaches high school students basic skills in financial planning, goal setting, decision-making, and career planning.
Students will choose a future career and receive their monthly salary deposited into their checking account.
They then enter the reality store with their checkbook and get a tax deduction before getting a student loan deduction.
Students will then go to thirteen other tables to make purchases for their “life.”
To make the event successful, volunteers are asked to man the booths and help students make wise financial choices based on their salary.
The first stop for the Reality Store will be at Kiel High School on October 4th.
After that, it will stop at Brillion, Manitowoc Lincoln, Reedsville, and Roncalli High Schools.
The Reality Store will be open from 7:40 to 11:00 a.m.
