Eastern Wisconsin’s representative in Congress has announced that he will be introducing a new bill soon.
Congressman Glenn Grothman visited the Seehafer Broadcasting Studios, where he explained what his BioSafe Act is all about.
He noted that it all started a few months back due a proposal by a branch of the federal government.
He explained, “The United States Fish and Wildlife Service made a proposal to get the federal government a lot more involved in decisions that are normally made by a state DNR.”
Congressman Grothman praised the relationship between the Wisconsin DNR and the outdoor enthusiasts in the state, and explained that the BioSafe Act aims to keep that relationship intact.
He said that it is “scary that decisions which right now are made at a local level would be transferred to bureaucrats in Washington.”
While things usually take a while to pick up steam in Washington, Congressman Grothman says he is hoping to get this moving in the right direction rather quickly.
“We’d like to see that thing get to the floor of the House by the end of the year,” he revealed. “I don’t expect it to be taken up by the Senate, but even a strong vote out of the House, which I think will include some Democrats because of course, the sportsmen’s groups are just scared to death of this, I think may cause debate administration to back off a little.”
The Glenbeulah native said that he is not surprised that the Biden Administration is trying to give the federal government more power, because they have a track record of try to “expand federal power across the board.”
