“We’re definitely prepared to get after it, and coaches did their homework.”
That’s the mindset of Two Rivers Head Football Coach Kevin Shillcox as The Raiders host The Seymour Thunder in their 2024 home opener tonight at Jerry Bonino Field.
Their debut in the Northeast Wisconsin Conference was not one they had planned on as they were defeated soundly by Fox Valley Lutheran 38-7 in Appleton last Friday night.
Many were surprised by the result and by the margin of victory put up by the Foxes. Two Rivers surrendered close to 500 yards to FVL, with 386 of that coming through the air.
Meanwhile, they were held to just 183 yards of total offense as they adjusted to multiple players assuming new roles.
“Noah Shillcox has replaced Justin Klinker at quarterback,” the coach noted. “Derek Klinker is playing wing for us. Max (Matthias) is replacing his brother Chase at running back and tight end Christian Pyles is starting to come into his own. We have a nice package put in for our offensive line to succeed and we look forward to Friday night’s game.”
Seymour comes to town having defeated Luxemburg Casco 20 to 14 last Friday night.
Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m., with coverage beginning at 6:40 p.m. on 97.1 WCUB and at CubRadio.com.
