There was a bedroom fire at a home in Fond du Lac however everyone made it out safe.
WBAY reports that just after 11:15 p.m. Monday (September 2nd), Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue were called to the 100 block of South Hickory Street for the incident.
Arriving fire crews saw the residents already outside but could not locate any smoke.
The residents claimed their eyes started to burn, and upon checking the bedroom, they found a fire.
A young man put the fire out using bowls of water before Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue arrived, however, they did have to ventilate the home because of a moderate amount of smoke.
No fire alarms were set off, and it was determined that the detector outside the bedroom, the only one on the first floor, had dead batteries.
Before leaving, the fire department replaced the battery and ensured it was working properly.
