A Bitcoin scam has been reported that targets Door County residents.
The Door County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of threatening emails making the rounds that demand payment via Bitcoin.
The emails included low-quality photos of the property across the road from the recipient’s residence.
Law enforcement officials believe the photos were acquired from one of various apps or websites, including google maps, which display geographical locations.
The Sheriff’s Office also states scammers of this nature will rely on urgent language and scare tactics to pressure their targets into immediate action.
Anyone who receives such an email from a potential scammer is urged to report it to local authorities.
