The Sheboygan Police Chief Christopher Domagalski has submitted his Benchmark Measurements report for quarter two to the Common Council.
This Benchmark Measurements report tracks many statistics such as the number of crimes, traffic stops, and open records requests in comparison to previous years and the goals they set.
These numbers revealed some crime numbers have risen while others have fallen. Compared to this time last year, sex offenses, both forcible and non-forcible, have gone up slightly along with aggravated assaults.
However, crimes against property including robbery, burglary, theft/larceny, and motor vehicle theft have all gone down while the value of property stolen is up substantially, sitting at $347,013.
The Sheboygan Police Department was extremely active in recovering this stolen property and was able to get back a sizable 78 percent of those stolen goods, up 38 percent from this time last year.
Other numbers show traffic stops, traffic arrests, and total arrests to also be up in Sheboygan, compared to 2023.
