The University of Wisconsin-Madison has ranked near the bottom in a recent campus free speech report.
The survey, conducted by FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression) and College Pulse, evaluated more than 250 colleges and universities based on their policies and the student-reported climate around free speech.
UW-Madison ranked 227th, with criticisms for its openness to diverse viewpoints, the prevalence of students who seek to censor speakers, and the number of students afraid to voice their opinions.
Harvard ranked last at 251, while the University of Virginia was recognized as the best school for free speech.
