We are now less than two months away from election day, meaning politicians are making the rounds to drum up support for their party’s candidates.
One of the people making trips all over Wisconsin is Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez, who took time out of her day to talk with Seehafer News.
She has been campaigning on behalf of Vice President Kamala Harris as she looks to become the first female President of the United States.
One thing she has noticed in her campaign travels is the excitement many people have for this election.
“I actually live in Waukesha County, which is a relatively red county,” she explained. “Yet my local county party, the Waukesha County Democratic Party, sent me a picture where, (at) their last meeting, it was standing room only, and that means over 200 people showed up.”
For many voters, the big issue in this year’s election Is the economy, which Rodrigues tells us is what she is hearing from residents all over the state.
Residents have also voiced concern over childcare costs.
“Vice President Harris is really interested in lowering costs for child care,” she noted. “She’s come out to talk about increasing the child care tax credit and making that permanent.”
The third major issue in this election, according to Lieutenant Governor Rodriguez, is housing.
“The Harris campaign is looking to reduce housing costs by increasing the supply of housing,” the lieutenant governor said. “We know that we’ve got a housing crisis here in Wisconsin. And being able to help first-time homebuyers with downpayment assistance.”
Rodriguez also noted that the Harris campaign’s policies would help farmers throughout Wisconsin, and that the Trump policies mainly focus on large corporate farms.
She said, “Under the Biden/Harris administration, we have seen an increase in small family farms…If we go with the Trump administration policies, you are going to see even less of those small family farms.”
