The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office is confirming that human remains have been found in the Town of Two Rivers.
An announcement on their Facebook page explains that they are actively investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains on Saturday (September 7th) after a local deer hunter found them.
The sheriff’s office says they can’t provide specific information regarding the race, gender, or age of the remains, and it will take some time to identify.
Speculation online has been that the remains are those of missing 4-year-old Elijah Vue.
Sheriff Dan Hartwig says his office is fully aware of the ongoing case of the missing toddler, however he says they are unable to confirm if the remains are related to the case.
Hartwig says he appreciates the public’s patience and understanding at they continue the investigation of the remains.
No additional information has been released at this time.
Elijah was reported missing in February of this year and has been missing for over close to seven months.
His mother, 31-year-old Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend, 39-year-old Jesse Vang, are currently in the Manitowoc County Jail on charges of chronic child neglect.
The charges stem from alleged incidents that happened before Elijah was reported missing.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department is working closely with the Wisconsin Department of Justice of Criminal Investigation, Wisconsin State Crime Lab, University of Oshkosh Anthropological Department, Two Rivers Police, and the Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office.
