The city of Two Rivers is getting ready to find its next city manager.
Greg Buckley, who’s been Two Rivers’ city manager since 1995, has announced that he will retire in August of next year.
He explained on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that he wanted to give the city council plenty of time to start looking for his replacement.
So far, the city’s Personnel and Finance Committee has discussed the process of starting to look for a search consultant, but now the council has taken action by allowing a search committee to be formed.
“That consists of our personnel and finance committee of City Council, which is chaired by Councilmember Bonnie Shimulunas,” Buckley explained. “(It) also includes Councilmembers Adam Wachowski and Mark Bittner. In addition to those three on that committee, Scott Stechmesser will be the fourth member.”
According to city documents, the search committee will provide updates on the recruitment process while also using input from the city council and other city department heads in their decision.
Previously, Police Chief Ben Meinnert was the interim city manager when Buckley was out for some time due to heart surgery, but who would fill his term is yet to be determined.
