Deputies in Waupaca County say a semi driver is dead following a crash, but it wasn’t the impact that killed the driver.
According to Waupaca County Sheriff Timothy Wilz, the crash happened around 7:00 pm Monday (September 9th) on US Highway 10 near State Highway 22.
The lone person driving the semi was found unresponsive by the Wisconsin State Patrol, and they began lifesaving efforts.
The driver was then taken to Thead Car Waupaca but was pronounced dead due to a medical condition and not because of the crash.
Initial findings from the rash show that the semi was traveling eastbound on US Highway 10, west of State Highway 22.
The vehicle entered the median, struck the guardrail, and came to rest further east in the median.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Waupaca Police Department, the Waupaca Fire Department, the Waupaca County Highway Department, the Gold Cross Ambulance Service, and the Waupaca County Medical Examiner’s Office.
