The Sheboygan Police Department has given an update on the weekend shooting involving an officer.
The update has been released to give the public more facts about the incident after receiving several requests for more information.
As of yesterday, the two officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.
The officer who fired at the suspect is a 29-year-old male who has been with the police department in Sheboygan for two years.
Additionally, they revealed the suspect is still in a Green Bay hospital, but no updates on his condition are available.
The final note in the update was to say no further information would be released about evidence recovered at this time to preserve the integrity of their investigation of the shooting.
The incident took place on September 8th when the suspect, a 23-year-old Sheboygan man, lunged at an officer, assaulted them, and took their firearm from the officer’s duty belt.
This led to the 29-year-old officer firing on the suspect and striking him.
