The Wisconsin archery and crossbow deer hunting season is here, beginning this weekend.
The two seasons open tomorrow (September 14th) and will remain open through January 5th.
However, 35 counties throughout the state, including many in the area, will have the archery and crossbow seasons open longer.
Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Winnebago, Outagamie, and Brown Counties will have the seasons extended until January 31st.
The DNR states the archery and crossbow seasons offer great opportunities to harvest antlerless deer before they change patterns and experience additional hunting pressure with gun deer season.
The DNR also urges individuals to remember safety when going out to hunt, regardless of what they are hunting.
A complete list of safety tips and additional hunting resources can be found online at dnr.wisconsin.gov.
