The Two Rivers Police Department has confirmed that the remains found by a hunter last weekend in The Town of Two Rivers are those of 4-year-old Elijah Vue.
Local and state authorities attended the press conference held at The Two Rivers Community Center at 4:30 this afternoon.
Steven Devine, who was on hand for Seehafer News, said that Two Rivers Police Chief Ben Meinert became “very emotional” at times. Meinert said that Elijah brought so much joy not only to his family but also to the city of Two Rivers.
Law enforcement did not take any questions, asking to give the family privacy and go through the grieving process as they mourn Elijah’s passing.
Elijah went missing the morning of Tuesday, February 20th, from the apartment of 39-year-old Jesse Vang of Two Rivers, and an amber alert has been out since hours after Elijah’s disappearance.
Vang, along with Elijah’s mother, 31-year-old Katrina Baur, remains in The Manitowoc County Jail on charges unrelated to Elijah’s disappearance.
Vang is due back in court on September 27th, while Baur is scheduled to return to Manitowoc County Circuit Court next month.
