There was a heavy police presence around Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah schools yesterday (September 12th).
Elkhart Lake Police Chief Mike Meeusen says while kids were being dropped off for school, a parent found a bullet in the road near the entrance to the elementary/middle school and brought it to school staff.
A school staff member called 911, and all schools in the district were placed on a non-emergency lockdown.
Meeusen continued saying that’s when Sheboygan County Sheriffs were placed at the high school while Elkhart Lake Police searched the middle and elementary schools with assistance from the Cedarburg K9 unit.
No explosives, weapons, or other ammunition were found, and the schools were released from lockdown.
Elkhart Lake Police thanked the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, Cedarburg Police Department, and the Sheboygan County Communications Center for their help.
