The Milwaukee Brewers are closing in on a second consecutive National League Central Division title as they come home from a road trip to San Francisco and Arizona for arguably their biggest homestand of the season.
The Crew returns to American Family Field having won four of their six games against the Giants and D-Backs, but now, they will host Philadelphia.
The Phillies are currently in line for one of the top two seeds and a first-round bye in the National League playoffs for three games beginning tonight, then welcome in Arizona, the defending National League champions, for four huge games beginning Thursday night.
Kent Sommerfeldt of the Brewers Radio Network broke down the week on a recent edition of “WOMT Sports Talk”.
“This stretch of games are really going to tell where the Brewers will finish in the playoff hunt,” he told hosts Brian Norton and Craig Dillon. “Will they be in position to grab one of the top two seeds in the National League playoff seeding or host a best-of-three wildcard series, all of which would be played at American Family Field?”
Sommerfeldt adds that this young squad has bought into the words preached to them daily by their manager Pat Murphy.
“It’s about winning today. Not worrying about tomorrow or next week or the playoffs,” he said. “Let’s win today and let the future take care of itself.”
You can hear tonight’s Phillies-Brewers game on 107.9 WOMT following SportsTalk from The Wharf on the water in downtown Manitowoc, which begins at 5:30 p.m.
A reminder that you can hear Kent Sommerfeldt with his “Brewers Breakdown” tonight (September 16th) and every Monday night on Sports Talk.
