A man is dead following a crash in Manitowoc. Manitowoc Police says they were called Saturday night (September 14th) just before 9:30 pm to Maritime Drive and Huron Street for a crash involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian in the roadway.
Witnesses report that the pedestrian was walking across Maritime Drive when an SUV struck him.
The 78-year-old man from Madison, whose name is not being released, was taken to a local hospital but later succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead.
The SUV driver was identified as a 78-year-old from California and was uninjured.
The crash is still under investigation by Manitowoc Police and Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP).
Manitowoc Police were helped by Manitowoc Fire Rescue, WSP, the City of Manitowoc Department of Public Works, and the Manitowoc County Coroner Office.
