Valders Fire and Rescue is weighing in on the recent discussions on fire service contracts.
Fire Chief Chris Dallas said in a Facebook post that while the developments could affect Rockwood and Silver Creek fire, Valders understands the importance of ensuring that all decisions made are fiscally sound and in the best interests of the safety and well-being of our residents.
The Valders fire chief continued by saying, “While we monitor the situation closely, we want to reassure you that we remain steadfast in our commitment to maintaining the highest level of fire and emergency medical services for the communities we serve. The safety of our residents is our top priority, and we believe it is essential that every decision regarding public safety reflects that priority, while also being financially responsible.”
The comments stem from the town of Manitowoc Rapids wanting to have a new contract with the Manitowoc Fire Department for areas in the town.
Residents and firefighters with the Silver Creek and Rockwood Fire Departments expressed their disapproval of the contract change to the Manitowoc Rapids town board.
An information session will be held on Wednesday (September 18th) from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
